St. Peter's Church

St. Peter’s Church anchors the crest of Old Jaffa with a red-tiled roof and stone walls that glow honey-colored at sunset. Built in eighteen ninety-four, it honors the apostle Peter, who experienced a life-changing vision in the house of Simon the Tanner nearby. Franciscan monks managed the construction, replacing an older seventeenth-century fort that served pilgrims arriving by sea. The interior features soaring vaulted ceilings and stained glass depicting scenes from Peter's life, crafted by artists in Munich who finished the work in nineteen forty-four.
