Park HaTachana

The red-tiled roof and pale, arched stone walls of Park HaTachana mark the site of the original Jaffa Railway Station. Built in eighteen ninety-two, it served as the western terminus for the first line connecting Jaffa to Jerusalem. Passengers once boarded steam trains here for a grueling six-hour journey inland. Today, the tracks remain embedded in the ground, and the restored terminal buildings house boutiques and cafes, with the old wooden carriage of a French-built locomotive still sitting on the rails.
