Shrem Spices sits on the corner of Levinsky Market, marked by burlap sacks overflowing with colorful mounds of turmeric, sumac, and dried hibiscus. Avraham Shrem started the shop in nineteen seventy-nine after arriving from Aleppo. He brought a specific family technique for roasting cumin and grinding chilis that soon drew locals from across Tel Aviv. The shop remains a family business, with his descendants still mixing their own spice blends behind the counter using the same heavy, industrial grinders Avraham installed decades ago.
