Dizengoff Center

The Dizengoff Center is a sprawling, labyrinthine complex defined by its two circular concrete towers connected by enclosed pedestrian bridges spanning across the street. Built in the late nineteen seventies, it was the first indoor shopping mall in Israel. Construction took decades to complete, leaving a giant pit in the city center for years. During that time, architect Yaakov Rechter designed the multi-level structure to fold the street life inside, effectively replacing a neighborhood of older houses and small workshops.
