KONDO Museum

The KONDO Museum stands out with its distinctively minimalist, dark wooden facade that seems to absorb the bustle of the Higashiyama district. This private museum houses the extensive personal collection of the late ceramic artist Yuzo Kondo, a designated Living National Treasure. His family transformed their long-time home and workshop into this space to preserve his intricate blue and white porcelain works. Visitors often find the artist’s original pottery wheel still sitting in the workshop area, surrounded by his unfinished clay molds.
