Soryu-gama is marked by a deep, indigo noren curtain hanging over a wooden storefront in the heart of the pottery district. This kiln was established by the Unosuke family in the nineteenth century to refine the production of Kiyomizu ware. Instead of firing massive batches, the kiln specialized in delicate, hand-painted porcelain that required precise temperature control. A master potter remains on the premises, still using the same techniques to apply cobalt pigments to clay before the final firing process.
