Sacred Heart Cathedral

The white, twin-towered facade of the Sacred Heart Cathedral stands out against the sky, resembling a fortress more than a church. Completed in nineteen fifty-two, the building blends neo-Gothic architecture with traditional Moroccan art deco details. Architect Paul Tournon designed it to serve the French Catholic community living in Casablanca at the time. After independence, the cathedral ceased its religious functions. It now houses a cultural center where local artists hold exhibitions, leaving the empty, high-vaulted nave to echo with modern art.
