Wilaya de Casablanca-Settat

other

The Wilaya de Casablanca-Settat commands the intersection with a tall, slender clock tower that rises sharply above the surrounding palm trees. This administrative headquarters features an ornate, white facade built in the nineteen twenties during the French protectorate. Architect Marius Boyer designed the structure to blend traditional Moroccan tilework with European art deco forms. Inside, a grand courtyard centers the building, where the prefect of the Casablanca region conducts daily government business behind walls covered in intricate, hand-cut geometric mosaics.
