Bab Ksiba

Bab Ksiba stands as the smallest of the nineteen gates of Marrakesh, identifiable by its plain, defensive horseshoe arch and the stark, earthen-colored stonework that blends into the surrounding walls. Built during the Almohad period, it served as a military checkpoint guarding the entrance to the royal palace district. In nineteen twelve, when French colonial forces occupied the city, they stationed heavy artillery right in front of this gate to hold control over the restless neighborhood of the Kasba.
