Saadian Tombs

The Saadian Tombs feature a narrow, unassuming passageway that leads into a lush garden filled with Italian Carrara marble markers. Behind these walls rest the remains of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur and his successors, enclosed for centuries after his death in sixteen oh three. When the subsequent Alaouite dynasty rose to power, they walled off the entrance to seal the site away from public view. The tombs stayed hidden behind the city's perimeter until a nineteen seventeen aerial survey revealed their existence.
