Souk Semmarine

Souk Semmarine is the widest and busiest artery in the Marrakech medina, identifiable by the intricate, vaulted iron roofing that filters the sun into thin, golden slats across the pavement. For centuries, this alley served as the primary entrance for merchants arriving from the north with silks and fine textiles. Legend holds that in the nineteen twenties, a local merchant famously refused a king’s offer to buy his entire shop, insisting the space stay exactly as his family had built it generations before.
