1 Souk des teinturiers

landmark

The Souk des Teinturiers is defined by the clusters of wool and silk skeins hanging from wooden rafters to dry in the sun. These vibrant bundles of yellow, red, and indigo shift color as they drip their dye onto the cobblestones below. Dyers have occupied this particular alleyway for centuries, using natural pigments like saffron, poppy, and mint to color the raw fibers. It remains a site of manual, persistent labor where the air carries a heavy scent of wet wool and chemicals.
