The Huis met de Hoofden features six stone heads carved above the main entrance, each representing a Roman deity. Built in sixteen twenty-two for the merchant Louis de Geer, the house served as a family home and a center for his international trade empire. Legend claims those heads were placed there because De Geer once caught a thief who had been hiding in the house for weeks. The thief had been cutting off the heads of family statues, and the new carvings replaced them.
