Papiermolensluis Brug 57

The Papiermolensluis is a humpbacked stone bridge that spans the Brouwersgracht with a single, sturdy arch. It earned its name from the paper mill that operated on this canal in the seventeenth century, back when the area served as a hub for industrial brewers and warehouse owners. The bridge bears a stone tablet marked with the year sixteen eighty-three, though the structure underwent a major renovation in the early nineteen hundreds to accommodate heavier city traffic.
