Zhengyang Road Pedestrian Street features a distinct, multi-storied bell tower that anchors the northern end of the walkway. This cobblestone path was once the commercial heart of the city during the Ming Dynasty, serving as a primary corridor for officials and scholars traveling through Guilin. Centuries later, workers uncovered ancient foundations and stone carvings during the renovation of the street in the nineteen nineties. Today, the street remains a dense collection of storefronts where locals trade goods beneath hanging red lanterns.
