Taoyuan Art Gallery

The Taoyuan Art Gallery features a distinct, traditional sloping roofline that mimics the jagged limestone peaks rising throughout Guilin. Local artists and collectors established this space to gather and exhibit ink paintings and calligraphy that capture the region’s karst landscapes. In the nineteen nineties, a group of painters moved their studios into this building to be closer to the Li River scenery. They often hosted public tea sessions where they debated the merits of brushstrokes while the river water flowed nearby.
