This structure once held the administration of justice for the region under the oversight of Thai officials and British advisors. In the nineteen twenties, a local judge named Luang Phithak set a precedent by insisting that traditional Lanna customary laws be integrated into the formal court proceedings, ensuring local customs remained part of the evolving legal code.
