The arched stone entryway of the Halep Pasajı is carved with the name of the place in heavy, weathered lettering. It started as the Halebiyye theater in the late nineteenth century, built by a Syrian businessman who wanted to bring European-style entertainment to Pera. During the early nineteen hundreds, the space held a circus and eventually one of the city's first cinemas. Today, the narrow passage fills with stalls selling vintage clothes and vinyl records, tucked deep under the original ornate ceiling.
