Orhan Kemal Museum

museum

The Orhan Kemal Museum occupies a quiet apartment in Cihangir, marked by a simple plaque near the entrance. This home holds the personal effects of the novelist who documented the lives of factory workers and the urban poor in mid-twentieth century Istanbul. Inside, his wooden desk remains exactly where he left it, covered with the pens and notebooks he used to write his stories. Visitors find his original manuscripts tucked into glass cases alongside his spectacles and the worn leather shoes he wore daily.
