Church of Saint Anthony of Padua

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua stands out with its tall, red brick facade that rises high above the street level, featuring a prominent, pointed arch over the main entrance. Designed by Giulio Mongeri and completed in nineteen twelve, this building replaced an earlier chapel for the Italian community living in the neighborhood. Its Venetian neo-Gothic style brought a distinctive architectural flair to the district, marking a shift in the local aesthetic during the final years of the Ottoman Empire.
