Nail Kitabevi occupies a three story wooden house painted a soft, dusty blue with white trim. It sits on a corner, its facade defined by large glass windows that pull the warmth of the interior bookshelves out onto the narrow street. While the building looks like a relic of old Istanbul, it serves as a modern bookstore and meeting place. A century ago, this house belonged to a local baker who lived with his family above the shop until the fire of nineteen ninety-two.
