The Corpus Clock

The Corpus Clock features a gold-plated stainless steel disc four feet across, dominated by a mechanical creature resembling a grasshopper. Known as the Chronophage, or time-eater, this beast clicks its jaws and snaps its wings as it marks the passage of seconds. Dr. John Taylor, a Cambridge alumnus and inventor, spent one million pounds to create it. He designed the mechanism to swallow seconds, minutes, and hours, reminding onlookers that every passing moment is gone forever.
