The Mathematical Bridge at Queens College is a timber structure built in seventeen forty-nine that appears to be held together by gravity and geometry alone. It relies on a series of tangential beams forming a self-supporting arch, lacking a single bolt or nail in its original design. Legend claims Isaac Newton built it without fasteners, only for students to take it apart and fail to put it back together until they resorted to using nuts and bolts.
