Menier Chocolate Factory

The Menier Chocolate Factory building on Southwark Street began its life in the nineteenth century as an ambitious industrial project for the French confectioner Chocolat Menier. Built between 1865 and 1874, the structure served as a processing and storage hub to help the company expand its chocolate empire into the British market. The facade was purposefully designed with lavish stonework and decorative elements to act as a permanent advertisement for the brand, broadcasting its success to everyone passing by on the street.
