Swan House, Chelsea Embankment

Swan House at seventeen Chelsea Embankment is widely considered the finest example of Queen Anne Revival domestic architecture in London. Completed in eighteen seventy-six by the architect Richard Norman Shaw, the building was commissioned by the solicitor Wickham Flower and his wife Elizabeth. The house draws its name from a former inn called The Swan, which previously occupied this exact site on the riverbank. If you look closely at the entrance, you can spot the subtle swan motif engraved on the doorstep.
