Toffee Park Adventure Playground - Islington Play Association

The name Toffee Park carries a local legend tied to the area's history near Saint Luke's Church. Historically, wealthy visitors would arrive at the church in horse-drawn carriages, and local residents would shout that the toffee-nosed people had arrived. The playground now occupies a space that once served as a bombsite, where local children first began gathering to play on their own before the site was formalized. In the early nineteen seventies, students from City University joined with the neighborhood to turn this informal gathering spot into a permanent community resource.
