Relay Building

The Relay Building at the intersection of Commercial Street and Whitechapel High Street occupies the site where the Seven Stars pub once stood. Completed in 2014, the twenty-three-story tower is built directly over the entrance to the Aldgate East Underground station. Construction of the project originally began in 2008 but stalled for years following the global financial crisis before being revived by a new developer. The building was designed with a distinct U-shaped structure above its sixth floor to maximize light and views for its residential units.
