Tower Green

park garden

Tower Green is a quiet, grassy space that served as a site for private executions. While thousands of prisoners were executed in public on the bustling Tower Hill just outside the fortress walls, only a select few were granted the privilege of being put to death here. This secluded location allowed the monarchy to carry out high-profile executions away from the view of jeering crowds, which prevented the formation of public martyrs and maintained a sense of royal dignity during political purges.
