Art in the Park stands as a creative anchor within the expansive green space of Burgess Park. The studio occupies a sturdy nineteenth century outbuilding that locals once referred to as the dead cat building. Before its transformation into a site for artistic production, this humble structure served as a mineral water works, a small but functional piece of the industrial history that once defined this area before it was redeveloped into public parkland.
