Gloucester Lane

Gloucester Lane features a long row of stone stables and carriage houses, distinguished by their arched wooden doors and steep, slate-covered roofs. These buildings served the grand townhouses of the Moray Feu estate during the early nineteenth century. Wealthy residents kept their horses and carriages here, tucked behind their main residences to keep the stables out of sight. A coachman often slept in a small loft above the horses, listening for the bells that signaled a carriage was needed for a trip.
