The Gregangelo Museum

The Gregangelo Museum began in the 1980s when artist Gregangelo Herrera found a single old can of paint in the basement of a dilapidated house. Herrera, a San Francisco native of Lebanese and Mexican descent, turned the restoration of this Mediterranean-style home into a lifelong project as he processed the grief of losing his partner to the AIDS epidemic. What started as a personal sanctuary evolved over four decades into a twenty-seven-room immersive art environment. The house now serves as both a living installation and the headquarters for his performance troupe, Velocity Circus.
