Trocadero, San Francisco

event

The Trocadero Clubhouse is a survivor from a time when the western edge of San Francisco consisted of wild, shifting sand dunes rather than city streets. Built in 1892, this yellow gabled building in the Stick-Eastlake architectural style is likely the oldest structure still standing in the southwestern part of the city. While it now sits quietly within the forested expanse of Stern Grove, it began its life as a roadhouse, serving as a secluded getaway for travelers moving between San Francisco and the peninsula.
