Stadtmuller House

The Stadtmuller House, built in eighteen eighty, stands as a rare survivor of the neighborhood's original identity. While most of the luxurious Victorian homes that once lined this stretch of Eddy Street were replaced by modern apartment buildings, this structure remains as a designated San Francisco landmark. Its builder, Frederick Stadtmuller, financed the construction after earning his fortune in Nevada, proving that for many during the boom years, the most reliable path to wealth was supplying the miners rather than digging in the earth himself.
