Gulf of the Farallones Aquarium

The Farallon Islands Education Center, often called the Gulf of the Farallones Aquarium, sits as a small, stone-walled building nestled near the edge of the park. It holds a saltwater system that mimics the chilly, nutrient-rich currents of the Pacific coast twenty-seven miles offshore. In nineteen thirty-eight, crews built this structure as a stable for horses used by park rangers. Today, the tanks house rockfish and anemones found in the deep water surrounding those islands, brought here for public display.
