BlackMan's Art Gallery

BlackMan's Art Gallery operated in San Francisco from nineteen sixty-seven to nineteen seventy-four. It was founded by the artist William Thomas, known as Juba Solo, and his wife, Robin Thomas, as a direct response to the lack of gallery representation for Black artists in the city. At the time of its opening, it held the distinction of being the only privately owned gallery in the United States devoted exclusively to Black creativity and culture.
