Duboce Park

Duboce Park sits on land that was originally designated for a hospital in the middle of the nineteenth century, though that medical facility was never actually built. Instead, the site became a public park in 1900, named for Colonel Victor Donglain Duboce, a local hero who had recently returned from the Spanish American War and died shortly after his election to the Board of Supervisors. The park remains one of the few in San Francisco where private homes sit directly alongside the grass without any separating streets or walkways.
