Poster Wall Museum

The Mission District is home to a unique, informal landmark often called the Art Wall on Valencia Street. It serves as a living, breathing exhibition space where the surface is perpetually layered with community flyers, political posters, and spontaneous street art. Rather than being housed behind glass, this site functions as an ever-evolving public bulletin board that reflects the neighborhood's shifting social and political climate. This specific wall was once part of an old police station. When the building was acquired by an artist and architect in the mid-nineties, the wall was intentionally preserved as an open canvas. Over the decades, it has become a weathered archive of local history, where fresh notices are frequently pasted directly over the remnants of past events, creating a thick, textured mosaic of the city's grassroots concerns.
