Second church of Christ, scientist

The monumental structure you see at the corner of Dolores and Cumberland streets was completed in nineteen sixteen as the Second Church of Christ, Scientist. It was designed by the San Francisco architect William H. Crim, who utilized a formal Beaux Arts style characterized by its symmetrical facade, grand portico, and a prominent, towering dome. This dome is particularly rare, as it is one of only two wood-framed truss system domes of its kind remaining in the entire city of San Francisco.
