The label was established by producers Bill Motley, Craig Morey, and Will Smith, who operated with close ties to the nearby Moby Dick bar on 18th Street. This proximity allowed the label to tailor its synth-heavy, fast-tempo tracks directly to the pulse of the local gay club culture, creating a signature sound that defined a specific era of underground dance music in the city.
