1439 Washington Ave

The two story structure of fourteen thirty-nine Washington Avenue features a distinct horizontal banding pattern and curved corner windows characteristic of the Streamline Moderne style. Built in nineteen thirty-nine, the building served as the headquarters for the Florida Power and Light Company. While residents today know the area for its tourist traffic, this site once functioned as the nerve center for managing the electrical grid that allowed the rapid expansion of Miami Beach through the middle of the twentieth century.
