The Cardozo Hotel stands out on Ocean Drive with its stark white facade and bold, symmetrical geometric relief. Built in nineteen thirty-nine by Henry Hohauser, it remains a prime example of Art Deco design with its vertical lines and tiered parapet. Gloria and Emilio Estefan purchased the building in the early nineties, pouring millions into a renovation that returned the lobby to its original period aesthetic. The hotel served as a filming location for several major Hollywood movies, including The Birdcage.
