Oolite Arts occupies a low-slung, white stucco building that sits quietly along Lincoln Road. It began in nineteen eighty-four as the Miami Beach Art Center, founded by Ellie Schneiderman. She wanted a dedicated space where local artists could afford to live and work. She convinced the city to let her use an abandoned movie theater, and eventually, this site became a permanent home for studios. Artists here work behind glass walls, turning the process of creating art into a public experience.
