Delano Miami Beach

The Delano sits behind a row of swaying palms, distinguished by its stark white facade and the vertical fins that slice across its streamlined balconies. Built in nineteen forty-seven by Robert Swartburg, the hotel once served as a base for military families during the second world war. It later transformed under hotelier Ian Schrager in the mid-nineties. He hired designer Philippe Starck to fill the lobby with surreal, oversized furniture and whimsical touches that turned the quiet lobby into a stage for celebrities.
