Hotel Breakwater South Beach

The Hotel Breakwater anchors the corner of Ocean Drive with its distinctive, neon-lit tower and sweeping, nautical curves. Built in nineteen thirty-nine, the structure reflects the streamlined aesthetic of the era, designed to resemble a ship ready to set sail across the Atlantic. Architect Anton Skislewicz fashioned the facade with signature porthole windows and horizontal lines, creating a visual rhythm that draws the eye upward. It remains a hallmark of the city's concentrated collection of early twentieth-century resort architecture.
