Soundscape Park is defined by the massive, curved steel trellis that arches over the lawn like a skeletal ribcage. It functions as an outdoor living room for the New World Center, which sits directly behind it. When the architect Frank Gehry designed the space, he wanted to break down the walls of the concert hall. He installed a screen on the building's facade so that performances happen simultaneously inside the hall and on the grass for anyone passing by.
