Boston Marathon bombing

event

Two bronze sculptures stand near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street, marking the sites where homemade bombs detonated on April fifteenth, twenty thirteen. The blast sites are embedded into the sidewalk as granite markers, each inscribed with the names of those who died. When the victims' families visited these spots after the recovery efforts, they found flowers, runners' shoes, and medals left by strangers. These markers remain a quiet space within the city for people to remember.
