Morton Memorial Laboratory of Chemistry

The Morton Memorial Laboratory of Chemistry was designed as a final tribute to the first president of the Stevens Institute of Technology, Henry Morton. After his death in nineteen hundred and two, university leadership decided to rename their planned alumni building to honor the man who had personally funded the school's earliest scientific equipment. The structure was completed in nineteen hundred and six to serve as a grand, imposing centerpiece for the campus, featuring durable hard-burnt bricks and high-quality oak interior finishes.
