Santa Fe Railyard Park

The Santa Fe Railyard Park stretches across thirteen acres of open space, defined by a distinct mix of native prairie grasses and rusted industrial rails embedded in the concrete paths. This ground served as the city’s primary economic engine for over a century, beginning in eighteen eighty when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway arrived. Freight crews unloaded coal, lumber, and livestock here, transforming the local economy. Today, those same tracks sit quiet, preserved as a permanent spine through the city.
