SITE SANTA FE

museum

The industrial warehouse at the corner of Paseo de Peralta and Guadalupe Street features a stark, corrugated metal facade that separates it from the nearby adobe architecture of Santa Fe. This building houses SITE Santa Fe, an organization that bypassed the traditional gallery model to host biennial contemporary art exhibitions. In nineteen ninety-five, curator Bruce Ferguson utilized this former beer distribution plant to launch the first international biennial in the United States, bringing large-scale installations to a city previously defined by its colonial history.
