New Mexico Museum of Art-Vladem Contemporary

The Vladem Contemporary occupies a former nineteen thirties railroad warehouse, identified by its sheer, flat industrial brick facade that interrupts the surrounding adobe aesthetic. Once a place where freight moved through Santa Fe, it now holds expansive, high-ceilinged galleries designed for large-scale digital art and installations. Artist Judy Chicago once arrived here to find the space so vast and raw that she chose to paint the floors white, turning the building itself into a canvas for her work.
